During this stage the form and feel of the product starts to take shape. Solid and surface modelling software allows for aesthetically pleasing, ergonomic and robust products to be developed. Careful attention is paid to design for manufacture. Factors that are taken into account include Cost; Materials and Processes; Maintenance; Environmental impact and Product usage. The design is optimised through various iterations, analysis and feedback from testing and from the client. Once finalised, output CAD data can be used for prototyping or final manufacture.
